Just another bluebird day in paradise
Ah yes, it really couldn't get much better. Whakapapa has perfect bluebird skies, the snowguns have been going all night so there's fresh snow on trail and ALL lifts barring the Far West T-Bar are operating. Turoa has some passing cloud that looks like it'll clear later in the day and all facilities except the Jumbo T-Bar are operating (go the High Noon Express!).
Tomorrow's forecast is looking just as good again so get up here for some school holiday fun!
At Whakapapa we are pulling the cable on the Far West T-Bar today with an aim to have it operating for the weekend. That'll make it one of the earliest openings for the Far West T-Bar that anyone up here can remember!

A bluebird day and soooo much snow!
Yes we really are sounding like a broken record but there is soooo much snow up here. We just can't get over how quickly we reached a 2m base at Turoa and Whakapapa's looking fantastic as well. There are heaps of very happy people up here today enjoying the perfect blue skies after a massive snowfall that saw many of the central north island roads closed over the weekend.
There's some wind around the upper mountain at Whakapapa that has the Valley T-Bar on hold and Knoll Ridge and the West Ridge closed for the day but it does seem to be easing so tomorrow should be ON! At Turoa we've got everything as high as the Giant open and should have the High Noon Express operating early this afternoon. The safety crew is working super hard on avalanche control to make it happen...thanks guys!

SOOOOOOOO Much Snow!!
Hee hee… we’re beginning to sound like a broken record!! We’ve had MORE snow… lots and lots and lots of it! At Turoa at least 25cm has fallen in the last 24 hours and Whakapapa had another 15cm. It is still snowing… and guess what?? There is more on the forecast!!! And the snow isn’t just falling on the Mountain…. It started snowing in town yesterday and didn’t stop all night!! When I woke up this morning it couldn’t believe my eyes… I had to take a shovel to my driveway to get the gate open! Check out the amount of snow on the roof of my Subaru… WOW!

Even MORE snow!!
Both Whakapapa and Turoa received another 10cm of snow overnight and there is still more on the forecast. Looks like Turoa may crack the 2 metre mark by the end of the week! Whakapapa is OPEN today with Happy Valley and the Rockgarden running. Turoa is closed due to extreme weather conditions that include -5 at the base area brrrrrrr!! Even though we are closed at Turoa the team is still hard at work preparing the ski area for the next open day – check out the picture below of Easy Fergus grooming the carpark!!

We've had MORE snow!!
Just as forecast a cold front passed over Mt Ruapehu last night dumping 20cm at Whakapapa and another 10cm at Turoa. It is pretty chilly up here today and we expect it to get even colder when the snow starts dumping again tonight. If the meteorologists are right we should get heavy snow to low levels for the next couple of days!!

More snow on its way!
It looks like we'll have more snow arriving very soon. There's a bit of cloud and drizzle hanging about at the moment but the freezing level's due to drop to below the base areas this afternoon, giving us even more lovely fresh snow!
At Whakapapa the Valley T-Bar is all ready to go on the next fine day and the crew are working on the Knoll Ridge T-Bar and West Ridge quad to get them going for this weekend!

Wet n Wild
What a difference a day makes… yesterday we were treated to beautiful blue sky conditions whilst today it is pretty hideous up here at Mt Ruapehu! We have drizzly wet and windy conditions. But the good news is that a cold front is forecast to move through shortly bringing with it lots and lots of snow!!

Bluebird!!
Well... what can I say... INCREDIBLE!! This is the first day I've been on the mountain since the storm cleared and the amount of snow on the ground is nothing short of remarkable. You have to see it to believe it. The Sisters at Turoa are absolutely full, something that didn't happen at all last year. Today is certainly going to put smiles on lots of faces thanks to bluebird conditions. The weather forecast is for heavy snow towards the end of the week ... can I hear a Whoop Whoop!!!!
