Ruapehu is home to some of the most spectacular backcountry terrain in the world and much of it is accessible straight from the lifts or with a moderate hike.
Going backcountry requires specialist equipment and knowledge and our experienced backcountry guides are more than happy to share their extensive knowledge of Ruapehu's backcountry terrain with you, as well as provide you with all the gear you'll need. Our backcountry programme includes daily guided tours, weekly ice climbing and mountaineering courses and avalanche awareness courses.

A non-refundable $100 deposit will be required to secure a booking. If the mountain is closed or a trip unable to proceed then a refund will be given. A minimum number of 2 people is required for each adventure. Maximum number of 10 people.
